my menu   top
when you are logged in, you can see your personal menu, normally in the upper right. this is the box with the x-button in the upper right. with this x-button you can logout. furthermore your menu contains links to your profile (with infos about your person, photos, guestbook, blogs), your settings and a link to a page where you can change the skin of your profile and the one you see while you are logged in.

in the settings you can change notification/update settings, privacy settings, your password and your email address. the link to the settings is contained in your menu or click here to come to the page.

how to change my password?   top
you can change your password in your settings. in the upper left of the settings you will find a select menu. choose "password".

how to change my email address?   top
you can change your email address in your settings. in the upper left of the settings you will find a select menu. choose "email".
as on your sign up, a new email address has to be verified. after changing, you will be sent an email to the new address, which contains all necessary information to confirm the email and reactivate your account. if this email does not arrive within 30 minutes, please contact us.

login with username or email?   top
you can choose if you want to login to your account with your username or your emailaddress (of course each with password) in the settings. and note: username or email, the each other way will not work anymore. we recommend the login via email, cause unlike your username, less people know it which decreases the chances that someone will try to hack your account. anyway, the most important thing to prevent hacking is a secure password.

terms of use - what is allowed, what is forbidden?   top
there are obligatory rules for the team behind emoscene.com and also for the users. you can find this rules in the terms of use which are linked in the imprint section. a link to the imprint section is located at the bottom of the page or just click here.

privacy   top
of course your data is kept in confidence. you can find out more about this issue in the terms of use.

how to sign off & remove my profile?   top
to sign off, click the link "more..." in your your menu and then "sign off" in the bottom.
you can leave a reason why you wanted to quit, so you will help us to improve emoscene.com.

faster navigation - are there some shortcuts?   top
there are some shortcuts for faster and easier navigation at emoscene.com. in the most browsers you have to press an additional key to use a shortcut - in the internet explorer and the firefox it ist the alt-key, in other browsers it ist the ctrl- or the apple key. below we will demonstrate it with the alt-key:

  • alt + s: send data - e.g. send a mail, submit a forum post and also login
  • alt + x: preview or (back to) editing - e.g. preview a new forum post
  • alt + a: show/open the text field to input data - e.g. the field to answer mails or to write a new forum post
  • alt + m: one page forward, when data like forum posts, mails in the inbox or user lists are distributed over several pages
  • alt + n: one page back
  • alt + t: scroll to top
  • tab: default key to navigate between formular elements and links

buddies & nags

how do i add someone as buddy (friend)?   top
visit the profil of the user you want as buddy. at the top, you will find this line "mail + buddy + block,...". click on the link "buddy". the user will receive your request as update and as soon she or he accepts it, you will be buddies. by the way, you can always see your buddies that are online in the box under your menu.

how do i cancel a "buddy-friendship"?   nach oben
in your profile there is a list of all your buddies. at the bottom of this page there is a link "edit buddylist" (or click here). at this page you can remove users from your buddylist (and at the same time you will be removed from their buddylists).

how to block a user?   nach oben
is anybody annoying you and you want to block him or her? at first, visit his or her profile. at the top, you will find this line "mail + buddy + block,...". click on the link "block". a blocked user cannot write you anymore mails, comments and stuff. note: a buddy is a friend which you cannot block - to do so you have to cancel the buddy-friendship first.

here you find a list of all the users you are blocking. at this page you can also rehabilitate these users, so unblock them.
